Domus and Habitat Design awards, in brief
Domus and Habitat Design awards recognize two sides of a builder's work. The Domus awards come from the APCHQ: Maisons Pépin has won five Domus trophies, awarded by its industry peers. The Habitat Design awards have recognized Maisons Pépin's space planning, natural light and furnished model units: six awards between 2019 and 2023, including a public's choice award.
This page goes through each distinction as the company presents it, then explains what it can mean for you if you are considering a home at BÉAcité. To find out who is behind these awards, meet the Maisons Pépin team.

Why Domus and Habitat Design awards matter to a buyer
Buying a new home means trusting a builder before the house is even finished. Domus and Habitat Design awards offer a benchmark that does not come from the company itself.
Recognition from peers
Maisons Pépin's Domus trophies were awarded by its peers. Being named Builder of the Year means earning recognition from people who know the trade from the inside.
Recognition from the public
The 2020 Choix du public award adds another perspective: that of the public, not only that of professionals.
Qualities you can check for yourself
Space planning, natural light, furnished model units: these are tangible qualities you can judge for yourself as you walk through a home.
2023 Habitat Design award: best space planning

In 2023, Maisons Pépin received the Habitat Design award for best space planning. In a home, space planning is about putting each room in the right place: easy flow, living areas that connect, storage where you need it, and no wasted square footage.
It is also the 2023 edition that La Presse and Le Journal de Montréal covered, as you will see below.
2022 Habitat Design awards: furnished model unit and PlanPoint
The 2022 edition brought Maisons Pépin two awards:
- Furnished model unit, in the category for units valued at over $750,000;
- PlanPoint, for space planning.
A furnished model unit is a home that has been furnished and decorated to be shown to buyers: you see the whole picture, from the materials chosen to the furniture layout.
2020 Habitat Design award: the public's choice
In 2020, a furnished model unit by Maisons Pépin won the Choix du public (public's choice) award. As the name suggests, this award comes from the public rather than from specialists alone.
For a buyer, that is a useful signal: the design appealed to the people who saw it, not just to design professionals.
2019 Habitat Design awards: space planning and natural light

In 2019, Maisons Pépin won two awards in the category for model units over $750,000: one for space planning, the other for natural light.
Natural light depends on the size and placement of the windows, the ceiling height and the way rooms open onto one another. It is a quality you feel as soon as you walk into a home, at any time of day.
The five APCHQ Domus trophies
Over the years, Maisons Pépin has won five APCHQ Domus trophies:
- Builder of the Year, which the company describes as the most prestigious award in the industry;
- Single-Family Residential Project or Development of the Year;
- Single-family construction, $225,000 and under (2009);
- Single-family construction, $225,000 to under $500,000;
- Single-family construction, $500,000 to $1,000,000.
These trophies span several single-family construction categories, not just one.

In the media: the 2023 Habitat Design awards
The 2023 edition of the Habitat Design awards was covered in two articles that BÉAcité shares in its press mentions:
- La Presse, November 17, 2023: "Prix Habitat Design 2023 : le design montréalais à l'honneur" (in French);
- Le Journal de Montréal, November 18, 2023: article on the Habitat Design awards (archived PDF, in French).
What these distinctions mean for your BÉAcité home
BÉAcité homes are built by Maisons Pépin, with the same priorities. Space and light, which these awards highlighted, are also at the heart of what the project offers: large windows in every room, 9-foot ceilings on the ground floor and, as an option, a cathedral ceiling in the dining room. And since furnished model units are part of the awards won, a visit remains the best way to judge: compare the turnkey homes on Geoffrion Street.
The builder behind these awards
Maisons Pépin inc. has 30 years of experience and more than 2,000 housing units to its credit, and holds RBQ licence 8297-6796-29. Its team brings together an engineer-founder, a design engineer, a site director, a project director and designer, and a sales director. Read about the builder.
