What a new semi-detached home near Westmount changes day to day

Westmount sits on the western slope of Mount Royal; Sainte-Julie borders Mont-Saint-Bruno National Park. Both towns live at the foot of a Monteregian hill, and both are part of the Montreal Metropolitan Community. What a new semi-detached home near Westmount changes is mostly the age of the house, the place the yard takes in your week, and the time you spend on upkeep.
Moving in without a renovation
The house is handed over finished: grading done, exterior landscaping complete, and a garage with a charging outlet for an electric car. Nothing to renovate, nothing to coordinate before you settle in.
Tall, bright rooms
The main floor has 9-foot ceilings, and every room gets generous windows. Among the options: a cathedral ceiling above the dining room, a mezzanine, a terrace on the roof.
Comfort built in
Central air conditioning, a central forced-air gas system and quartz on the kitchen counter are included from the outset.
A neighbourhood planned from the start
More than 15% of Vilamo, some 600,000 sq ft, is given over to green space. A promenade is laid out for walking, cycling and electric transportation, and architectural standards shape the look of the buildings. No home is more than 300 m from a bus stop, and local transit in Sainte-Julie is free.
New-home protection
Like any new home a contractor sells in Quebec, each one must be protected under the mandatory guarantee plan for new residential buildings; ask the sales director to go over that coverage in detail.
Restoring a heritage home or starting fresh

In Westmount, work that affects the outside of a property generally falls under By-law 1305 on the site planning and architectural integration program (PIIA) and must be approved by city council, on the recommendation of the planning advisory committee. That is how the city protects its heritage. In the 2021 Census, 8.5% of the city's dwellings needed major repairs. Our article explains how to weigh a renovation against a turnkey new home.

Keep a house, drop the chores

In the 2021 Census, 28.4% of Westmount residents were 65 or older, and nearly one household in four (24.2%) had a primary household maintainer aged 75 or over. If keeping up a house is starting to feel like a burden, BÉAcité delivers landscaped grounds, after which an all-inclusive maintenance program handles the upkeep; the semi-detached bungalow keeps the main living spaces on the ground floor.

The trip, by metro, bus or car

By car, the two bridges are nearly even when the road is clear. Without a car, on weekdays, the green line takes you from Atwater to Radisson with no transfer in 22 to 25 minutes, then exo bus 520 continues to the Sainte-Julie terminus; the T34 taxibus, booked ahead, covers the last leg. On weekends, no bus goes as far as Geoffrion Street. Schedules, routes and the fare you'll need are covered separately.
