The drive from Beloeil to Sainte-Julie: roads, taxibus and the model home visit
Before you visit a new semi-detached home near Beloeil, it helps to know what the daily trip from Beloeil to Sainte-Julie really involves. The distance is short, and there are several ways to cover it.
This article covers the three road routes, the taxibus that serves the BÉAcité area, the connections to Montreal and the visit to the model homes on Geoffrion Street. Distances and times were calculated with the OSRM routing engine, without traffic: allow more time at rush hour. Bus schedules come from exo's open data, valid until January 3, 2027.
From Beloeil to Sainte-Julie via Highway 20: the shortest route
From Beloeil city hall, at 777 rue Laurier in Old Beloeil, the shortest route is about 10 km long and takes about 13 minutes:
- Rue Laurier, Rue Bernard and Rue Dupré, then Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste for about 3 km, with one roundabout;
- Montée Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Chemin de l'Industrie, in Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, up to Highway 20 West, which you join at exit 109;
- about 4 km on the Jean-Lesage Highway, to exit 105 (Route 229, toward McMasterville, Saint-Basile-le-Grand and Saint-Amable);
- Montée des Quarante-Deux, Avenue des Bâtisseurs, Rue Bissonnette, then Geoffrion Street.
On the way back, the same route runs in reverse through exit 109 "Beloeil": again about 10 km and 13 minutes.
Two alternatives: exit 112 or Route 229
If you're leaving from northeast Beloeil, say from the park-and-ride on Rue de l'Industrie, the "20 Ouest : Montréal" ramp puts you straight onto the highway at exit 112. About 7 km later, you get off at exit 105. Total: about 9 km, roughly 9 minutes.
Rather skip the highway? Route 229 does the job. From Old Beloeil, take Boulevard Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier (Route 116) for about 2 km, then Rue Bernard-Pilon, which runs through Beloeil and Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil for about 7 km before meeting Montée des Quarante-Deux: about 11 km and 15 minutes. From Mail Montenach, at the south end of town, this road works out to about 10 km and 14 minutes.
Without a car: the T34 taxibus and other routes
The T34 "Sainte-Julie – Beloeil" taxibus is the only route that links Beloeil directly to the BÉAcité area. It leaves the Beloeil park-and-ride, travels along Rue de l'Industrie, Chemin du Ruisseau Nord and Chemin du Crépuscule, and reaches the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop, about 90 m from Geoffrion Street, in 14 minutes. The return trip takes 16 minutes.
- When? Weekdays only, with 10 departures in each direction.
- Departures from Beloeil: 6:15, 6:42, 7:10, 8:00 and 8:55 a.m., then 12:50, 2:10, 4:05, 5:07 and 6:07 p.m.
- Trips back to Beloeil: 6:52, 7:36 and 8:51 a.m., then 12:06, 1:27, 4:03, 4:46, 5:23, 6:03 and 6:51 p.m.
- Reservations: the route name says "sur réservation" (by reservation); check with exo for how to book.
Two other routes connect Beloeil to the Sainte-Julie bus terminus, about 6 km from Geoffrion Street: the T30 taxibus from Mail Montenach, in about 30 minutes, and the 520 express from the park-and-ride, in 10 to 12 minutes, which then carries on to the Radisson metro terminus. On weekends, however, no route takes you from Beloeil to Sainte-Julie. Neither town has a train station: the closest are in McMasterville and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, on exo line 13. Both towns also offer free local transit to their residents.
By bike, we found no dedicated cycling link between the two towns.
And to Montreal?
If you work on the island, settling on Geoffrion Street brings you closer to downtown. According to the same routing engine, without traffic:
- Central Station: about 35.4 km and 39 minutes from Beloeil city hall, versus about 31.5 km and 32 minutes from Geoffrion Street;
- Longueuil terminus (metro): about 28.3 km and 29 minutes, versus about 23.9 km and 21 minutes;
- Radisson terminus (metro): about 30.2 km and 31 minutes, versus about 22.4 km and 22 minutes.
At the 2021 Census, 57.0% of Beloeil workers with a usual place of work commuted outside the La Vallée-du-Richelieu RCM, and 3.0% of commuters used public transit. Those figures date from May 2021, in the middle of the pandemic: they point to a trend, not a current snapshot.
What the distance changes day to day
Thirteen minutes on the road is little enough to keep your Beloeil habits: a meal in Old Beloeil, a stroll along the Richelieu. Note, though, that the open-water swimming pool at the municipal wharf is reserved for Beloeil residents. Mont Saint-Hilaire also gets farther away: the Gault Nature Reserve is about 7 km from Beloeil city hall, but about 17 km from Geoffrion Street, or roughly 23 minutes. Ski Saint-Bruno, on the other hand, is only about 9 km from BÉAcité.
For families, both towns belong to the Centre de services scolaire des Patriotes, but the school a child attends depends on the address, so check before you move. For a broader comparison of the two places, read our article on living in Sainte-Julie or Beloeil.

BÉAcité invites you to tour its model homes and their many options: 405, 408, 423 and 435 Geoffrion Street. The sales office is at number 435.
