From Blainville to Sainte-Julie, bridge by bridge
If a new semi-detached home near Blainville has caught your eye, one question comes before plans and finishes: how many bridges stand between you and a visit?
The answer is three. The drive from Blainville to Sainte-Julie crosses the Rivière des Mille Îles, the Rivière des Prairies, and then the St. Lawrence through the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel. The distances and times below come from the OSRM calculator; they are measured to Geoffrion Street, where number 435 houses BÉAcité's sales office. They are traffic-free times: at rush hour, the drive gets longer.
How long from Blainville to Sainte-Julie?
The distance depends on your neighbourhood. Four starting points, measured to Geoffrion Street:
- city hall, 1000 chemin du Plan-Bouchard: 64.8 km, about 58 minutes;
- Blainville station: 63.7 km, about 57 minutes;
- Parc de Fontainebleau, in the east end: 55.6 km, about 52 minutes;
- Parc de Chambéry, in the northeast: 54.5 km, about 53 minutes.
All four of these routes use the Highway 25 toll bridge, which the calculator picks by default. So think in ranges: 54 to 65 km, about 50 to 55 minutes from the east end and about an hour from city hall or the station.
From the west side: Highway 15, then a choice
Boulevard du Curé-Labelle and Boulevard de la Seigneurie West lead to Highway 15 South, which crosses the Rivière des Mille Îles on the Gédéon-Ouimet Bridge. Then you have two options.
With a toll: Highway 440, then Highway 25
At Exit 10, Highway 440 East crosses Laval to Exit 35, "25 Sud : Montréal". Highway 25 then crosses the Rivière des Prairies on the Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge. According to a25.com, you pay electronically, without slowing down, whichever way you're headed; if you have no transponder, billing is done by plate recognition. This is the route the calculator suggests: 64.8 km, about 58 minutes.
Toll-free: Highway 15 to Highway 40
Or stay on Highway 15 South to the Médéric-Martin Bridge, then take Exit 1-E onto Highway 40 East, the Metropolitan, and Exit 80-S for the bridge-tunnel. Total: 64.7 km, about 60 minutes. So the toll saves only about two minutes, and roughly the same on the way back (about 56 minutes versus 58).
From the east side: Fontainebleau and Chambéry
In the east end, the calculator uses Highway 640 (Exit 28) from Fontainebleau, or Montée Gagnon from Chambéry, to reach Route 335. Boulevard Louis-Joseph-Papineau crosses the Rivière des Mille Îles on the Athanase-David Bridge, then Highways 19 and 440 lead to the Highway 25 toll bridge. Here, avoiding it costs a little more: staying on Highway 19 to the Papineau-Leblanc Bridge, then Boulevard Crémazie and Highway 40, allow about 57 or 58 minutes instead of 52 or 53.
The bridge-tunnel and the last stretch
Every calculated route ends the same way: Highway 25 South goes under the river through the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel, then joins Highway 20 East. According to Quebec's transport ministry (Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable), the bridge-tunnel is undergoing major rehabilitation until 2027, with lane restrictions that change from phase to phase: check that day's closures before you leave.
After some fifteen kilometres on Highway 20, get off at Exit 105, toward Route 229: Montée des Quarante-Deux, then Avenue des Bâtisseurs, bring you to Geoffrion Street. On the way home, Highway 15 North brings you back via Exit 25, "Blainville, Boulevard de la Seigneurie".
Without a car: weekdays only
No single route links the two cities directly. According to exo and STM data for Monday, November 2, 2026, two options first get you to the metro:
- exo's Line 12 train, from Blainville station to De la Concorde station in Laval: 23 to 33 minutes, 14 weekday departures;
- exo bus 709, which runs down Boulevard du Curé-Labelle to the Montmorency terminus: 71 weekday departures, 30 to 60 minutes depending on the time of day.
The orange line, then the yellow line, take you to Longueuil, where exo buses 350, 325 or 330 go to the Sainte-Julie terminus. For the last kilometre, the T34 taxibus, reserved in advance and weekdays only, drops passengers at the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop, about 90 m from Geoffrion Street. All told, getting from Blainville to Sainte-Julie by public transit takes about two hours, with four transfers. Blainville and Sainte-Julie are both in ARTM zone C, but the trip passes through zones B and A: you need an All Modes ABC fare.
