Griffintown to Sainte-Julie without a car
If you live without a car, the first question about a new semi-detached home near Griffintown isn't the floor plan: it's how to get there.
In Griffintown, driving is far from the default: in the 2021 Census, 52.0% of the area's commuters got to work some other way than by car, and 25.8% walked (Statistics Canada, six dissemination areas covering Griffintown; May 2021, mid-pandemic). Getting from Griffintown to Sainte-Julie without a car is entirely doable on a weekday, with two or three transfers; on weekends, it's a different story.
The schedules quoted below are the STM's and exo's for Monday, November 2, 2026; check them before you head out.
Griffintown to Sainte-Julie without a car: where to start
Griffintown, which runs between Notre-Dame Street West, the Lachine Canal, Georges-Vanier Boulevard and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, has no metro or REM station of its own. Your first step is to reach one of the stations around it; as the crow flies, since the actual walk hasn't been measured:
- from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), on Notre-Dame Street West: Bonaventure metro 0.52 km away, Lucien-L'Allier 0.65 km, and the REM's Gare Centrale station 0.66 km;
- from Bassin-à-Gravier Park: Lucien-L'Allier 0.86 km, Georges-Vanier 0.99 km, Bonaventure 1.03 km, Gare Centrale 1.21 km;
- from Rue du Square-Gallery, near the Peel Basin: Bonaventure 1.02 km, Gare Centrale 1.14 km.
Route one: metro, exo 350, then the T34 taxibus
The orange line takes you from Bonaventure to Berri-UQAM in 5 to 9 minutes, with a train every 3 or 4 minutes between 7 and 9 a.m. The yellow line then gets you to Longueuil station in 6 or 7 minutes. At the Longueuil terminus, exo routes 350, 325 and 330 add up to 39 weekday departures for the Sainte-Julie terminus, and the 350 makes the run in 20 to 35 minutes. The T34 taxibus, which must be booked, covers the final leg: from the Sainte-Julie terminus to the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop, about 90 m from Geoffrion Street.
A sample trip, one connection at a time
- 6:31 a.m.: metro from Bonaventure, arriving at Berri-UQAM at 6:36;
- 6:40 a.m.: yellow line, arriving at Longueuil at 6:46;
- 6:58 a.m.: exo bus 350, arriving at the Sainte-Julie terminus at 7:19;
- 7:25 a.m.: T34 taxibus, arriving at the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop at 7:36.
That's about 65 minutes from Bonaventure station, with three transfers. Add the walk to the metro and between platforms.
Route two: the REM to Brossard, then exo 600
From the east end of Griffintown, Gare Centrale is the nearest way in. According to CDPQ Infra (2023), the REM's South Shore branch links Brossard to downtown "in less than 18 minutes"; according to the REM's service schedule, trains run every 3 minutes 30 at peak times between Brossard and Bois-Franc, and every 7 minutes off-peak. At the Brossard terminus, platform 5, about 200 m from the station, exo bus 600 offers 26 departures to Sainte-Julie Monday to Friday, from 6:20 a.m. to 10:08 p.m. Together with the T34, allow 43 to 63 minutes from the Brossard terminus to the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop.
Without a detailed REM timetable, the total time for this route hasn't been calculated.
What about Griffintown–Bernard-Landry station?
On June 16, 2026, CDPQ Infra launched the planning phase for two additional REM stations, including Griffintown–Bernard-Landry. The project is expected to take about four years, planning and construction included, and construction could begin in 2028. No opening date has been announced: for now, you walk to Gare Centrale.
The fare you'll need
Griffintown is in ARTM zone A and Sainte-Julie in zone C, so the trip calls for an All modes ABC fare; check the current price with the ARTM. In Sainte-Julie, according to the City, local public transit is free for everyone, at all times, on every route.
Visiting the sales office by public transit
BÉAcité's sales office, at 435 Geoffrion Street, is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the very days the T34 runs. To make the visit go smoothly:
- book the T34 taxibus ahead of time;
- let Eddy Guessous, sales director, know when you expect to arrive, at 514-812-9633 (call or text) or ventes@beacite.com;
- plan your way back before you set out, and confirm how the T34 works with exo.
Evening, Saturday and Sunday visits are by appointment. On weekends, though, neither the exo 600 nor the T34 runs: routes 350 and 340 stop at the Sainte-Julie terminus, 5.8 km from Geoffrion Street, or about 8 minutes by car. Sainte-Julie has no train station.
The day you borrow a car
According to the OSRM route planner, Geoffrion Street is about 33 km from Griffintown via the Ville-Marie Expressway, the Jacques Cartier Bridge and Highway 20 East, roughly 35 minutes without traffic; via the Samuel De Champlain Bridge and Highway 30, it's about 40 km and 37 to 39 minutes. At Exit 105, follow the signs for the Vallée-du-Richelieu golf club, then BÉAcité's own signs. The Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel, under major repair until 2027 with closures that change from phase to phase, doesn't come up in the routes calculated from Griffintown.
And day to day?
Let's be upfront: the visit works without a car, but daily life in Sainte-Julie mostly runs on one. In the 2021 Census, 90.2% of the city's commuters drove, compared with 48.0% in Griffintown, and only 3.8% walked to work. The Vilamo neighbourhood narrows the gap: every home is less than 300 m from a bus stop, and a pharmacy, a Caisse Desjardins, restaurants and medical services are within walking distance. Still, no bus serves Geoffrion Street on weekends. That's where the garage outlet for an electric car earns its keep.

Conclusion
Going from Griffintown to Sainte-Julie without a car works on a weekday: about 65 minutes from Bonaventure station via Longueuil, or the REM to Brossard and then exo 600, with the T34 for the last stretch either way. On weekends, plan on a car and an appointment. The best test is a trial run on a weekday, all the way to the sales office at 435 Geoffrion Street.
