From Laval to Sainte-Julie: which bridge to take
Before you book a tour of a new semi-detached home near Laval, it helps to know which route lies ahead, because it all depends on which corner of the island you live in.
Laval covers more than 246 km², so the trip from Laval to Sainte-Julie doesn't start at the same bridge from Chomedey, Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Saint-François or Sainte-Dorothée. Distances and times come from the OSRM route planner, to Geoffrion Street, where BÉAcité's sales office is located. They are traffic-free times, longer at rush hour. Metro and bus schedules are STM and exo data for Monday, November 2, 2026.
From Laval to Sainte-Julie: your starting point changes everything
Depending on where you start, OSRM gives:
- Centre de la nature, Avenue du Parc, in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul: 34.1 km, about 37 minutes;
- Saint-François, from Saint-François-de-Sales church: 39.9 km, about 37 minutes, over a toll bridge;
- City hall, in Chomedey, or Montmorency station, in Laval-des-Rapides: about 45 km, about 44 minutes;
- Sainte-Dorothée REM station: 57.1 km, about 51 minutes, over a toll bridge.
Three ways across the Rivière des Prairies
Highways 15 and 40, from Chomedey
Boulevard Armand-Frappier takes you to Highway 15 South and the Médéric-Martin Bridge, then Exit 1-E onto Highway 40 East. About ten kilometres later, Exit 80-S points to the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel. There's no toll on this route.
The Pie-IX Bridge, from the east end
From Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, OSRM prefers Boulevard de la Concorde, then Boulevard Pie-IX and its bridge. Boulevard Henri-Bourassa East then leads to Highway 25 South, past the toll bridge. It's the shortest route calculated: 34.1 km.
Highway 25 all the way, with a toll
From Saint-François, Boulevard des Mille-Îles leads to Highway 25, which runs straight to the bridge-tunnel. It's the only route where a single highway links Laval to Highway 20. Its bridge over the Rivière des Prairies, the Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge, does charge a toll, though: according to a25.com, it's electronic, with no stopping, in both directions; without a transponder, you're billed by licence-plate recognition, plus administrative fees. Skipping that bridge costs time: from Saint-François, about 52 minutes via the Pie-IX Bridge instead of 37; from Sainte-Dorothée, about 62 minutes via Highway 15 instead of 51. From city hall, on the other hand, the toll-free route is already the fastest.
The bridge-tunnel, shared by every route
Every route calculated from Laval goes through the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel on Highway 25. According to Quebec's transport ministry (MTMD), it is under major repair until 2027, with closures that shift from one phase to the next; check road conditions before you leave. Once on the South Shore, Highway 20 East takes you about fifteen kilometres to Exit 105, toward Route 229. From there, follow Montée des Quarante-Deux and Avenue des Bâtisseurs to Geoffrion Street.
On weekdays, without a car: the metro, then exo
No bus runs directly from Laval to Sainte-Julie. Laval's three metro stations are all on the orange line; note that STL fares are not valid on the metro. Two combinations work on weekdays:
- via Longueuil: Montmorency to Berri-UQAM in 20 to 25 minutes, then the yellow line to Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke in 6 or 7 minutes; exo bus 350, or the 325, then continues to the Sainte-Julie terminus;
- via Radisson: the green line from Berri-UQAM to Radisson in 14 to 16 minutes, then exo bus 520 to the Sainte-Julie terminus.
The last leg is by T34 taxibus, which must be booked and runs on weekdays only: 11 minutes from the Sainte-Julie terminus to the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop, about 90 m from Geoffrion Street. The fastest trip calculated from Montmorency, on the 6:22 a.m. metro, arrives at 7:36 a.m.: about 1 hour 14 minutes. From Sainte-Dorothée, the REM runs to Brossard with no transfer, in about 50 minutes by our calculation; exo bus 600 and the T34 take over from there, for at least 1 hour 35 minutes of travel on board.
Arriving while the sales office is open
The T34 has no departures between 8:40 a.m. and 11:55 a.m. For a visit by public transit, only two arrivals fall during the day: 12:06 p.m., leaving Montmorency at 10:09 a.m. via Radisson and exo 520, and 1:27 p.m., leaving at 11:57 a.m. via Longueuil and exo 325. For the return, the 2:24 p.m. T34, followed by exo 350, brings you back to Montmorency around 3:39 p.m. Walking at the transfers isn't included; T34 bookings are made with exo.
As for fares, Laval is in ARTM zone B and Sainte-Julie in zone C; since there is no All modes "B and C" fare, plan on an All modes ABC fare, and check the current price.
On Saturdays and Sundays, neither the T34 nor exo 520 runs, and no bus goes as far as Geoffrion Street. Weekend visits are therefore by car, by appointment.
