From McMasterville to Sainte-Julie: Route 229 to the BÉAcité model home

Before choosing a new semi-detached home near McMasterville, it's worth making the drive once: BÉAcité's sales office is at 435 Geoffrion Street in Sainte-Julie. How long does it take to get from McMasterville to Sainte-Julie, and which streets should you take?

The open-source OSRM route planner puts the road distance between McMasterville town hall, at 255 Boulevard Constable, and Geoffrion Street at 8.1 km, or about 11 minutes of driving without traffic. As the crow flies, the two addresses are 6.9 km apart. Every travel time in this article is calculated the same way, without traffic: at rush hour, allow more.

Below you'll find the route street by street, the variations depending on where you start, what the train, the bus and the bike can do for you, and then the visit itself.

From McMasterville to Sainte-Julie via Route 229

The calculation returns just one route, the same wherever you start in town, and it stays off the highway:

  1. From town hall, take Rue de Normandie for about 400 m to Rue Bernard-Pilon, which is Route 229.
  2. Head north on Rue Bernard-Pilon for about 6.7 km; it runs through Beloeil, then Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil.
  3. It crosses Highway 20 at the exit 105 interchange: stay on Route 229 without getting on the highway.
  4. As you enter Sainte-Julie, the road becomes Montée des Quarante-Deux, still Route 229, for about 700 m.
  5. Then turn onto Avenue des Bâtisseurs and, finally, Geoffrion Street.

Past the interchange, the signs for the Vallée-du-Richelieu golf club point the way, and BÉAcité's own signs take over from there. That golf club is in Sainte-Julie, on the edge of the Vilamo neighbourhood.

Depending on where you start in town

McMasterville is compact: across its 3.12 km², the distance barely changes from one corner to another. A few calculations, again without traffic:

  • From the exo train station: 9.2 km and about 11 and a half minutes, starting along Boulevard Laurier (Route 116) for about 900 m before joining Rue Bernard-Pilon.
  • From Rue Richelieu, near the entrance to the riverside park: 8.9 km, about 11 minutes.
  • From the west end, near Parc des Élus: 8.6 km, about 11 minutes, via Rue Yves-Sylvestre, Rue Ernest-O'Doherty and Rue Roger-Levasseur, then Boulevard Yvon-L'Heureux Sud.

On the way back, Geoffrion Street is 8.2 km from town hall (about 11 minutes) and 10.3 km from the train station (about 13 minutes), with the route then using Boulevard Laurier.

What about Highway 20?

You can also get onto Highway 20: Chemin Trudeau, Montée Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Chemin de l'Industrie, then Highway 20 West for about 3.9 km to exit 105. That detour is 12.3 km long and takes about 16 minutes without traffic. To get from McMasterville to Sainte-Julie, it offers no advantage over Route 229, which is shorter and more direct. At rush hour, both routes can take longer, so check traffic conditions before you head out.

Train, bus and bike

The train: your station stays the closest

According to exo's official schedules, valid until January 3, 2027, line 13 (Mont-Saint-Hilaire) stops at McMasterville station on weekdays only, with 7 departures in each direction; the ride to Montreal's Central Station takes 41 to 45 minutes. Sainte-Julie has no station at all, and McMasterville's is the closest one to Geoffrion Street: if you already take the train here, you would keep the same station.

The bus: two taxibuses on reservation

By public transit, only one service links McMasterville and Sainte-Julie: the T30 taxibus (Beloeil – Sainte-Julie), on reservation. It serves four stops on Rue Bernard-Pilon in McMasterville, then reaches the Sainte-Julie terminus in about 25 minutes, on weekdays only, with 13 departures in each direction. It does not, however, pass near Geoffrion Street. Close to BÉAcité, the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop is served only by the T34 taxibus, also on reservation, and connections between the two have not been checked: don't count on that combination for a daily commute. Routes 200 and 201, which run through McMasterville, head for Longueuil rather than Sainte-Julie.

By bike

No official source confirms a continuous cycling link between the two towns. Sainte-Julie says it intends to add links to neighbouring towns, and a 3 km walking and cycling path in its linear park forms a section of the Oka–Mont-Saint-Hilaire trail. Before setting out by bike, check the full route.

What the distance changes day to day

According to the 2021 Census, 60.7% of McMasterville's workers had a job outside their regional county municipality, La Vallée-du-Richelieu: for many, time on the road is already part of the day. A few benchmarks from Geoffrion Street, by car and without traffic:

  • The Sainte-Julie terminus and its park-and-ride lot: 5.8 km, about 8 minutes.
  • McMasterville town hall: about 11 minutes, so you can keep your activities and appointments on that side.
  • Sainte-Julie's local buses: free, and every home in Vilamo is within 300 m of a stop.
  • Everyday shopping: in Vilamo, a commercial strip within walking distance brings together medical services, a public market, restaurants, a Caisse Desjardins and a pharmacy.
