The trip from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Sainte-Julie is no quick errand: with four highways along the way, it's worth planning like an outing.

From Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Sainte-Julie by highway
From city hall at 188 Rue Jacques-Cartier Nord, the fastest route is 50.4 km, about 44 minutes. It's also the route the planner picks when starting from Iberville, the Carrefour Richelieu, the bus terminus and the Royal Military College.
- Make your way to Boulevard du Séminaire Nord (Route 223) via Rue Champlain and Rue MacDonald.
- Take Highway 35 north for about 11 km, then exit 55-O, “10 Ouest : Montréal.”
- Follow Highway 10 west for about 9 km, to exit 11 toward Highway 30.
- Drive Highway 30 East for about 14 km and leave it at exit 83, “20 : Montréal, Québec.”
- About 6 km further along Highway 20 East, take exit 105 (Route 229), then Montée des Quarante-Deux, Avenue des Bâtisseurs and Geoffrion Street.
Once off the highway, look for the signs to the Vallée-du-Richelieu golf course; the project's own signs then take over. From other parts of the city, along the same route:
- Iberville (2e Avenue): 53.0 km, about 45 minutes;
- Carrefour Richelieu: 46.1 km, about 39 minutes;
- Royal Military College Saint-Jean: 52.0 km, about 47 minutes.
From Saint-Luc: Route 104 and Highway 30
Starting from the Saint-Luc sector, the planner picks a more direct road: 43.3 km, about 38 minutes. Boulevard Saint-Luc, then Chemin de Saint-Jean, both part of Route 104, bring you to Highway 30 East in roughly 13 km. You follow it for about twenty kilometres to exit 83, and Highway 20 East and exit 105 finish the trip, as above.
On the way back to Saint-Luc, the calculated route uses Highway 35 and Route 104 West instead: 44.7 km, for a similar travel time.
The Richelieu route, no highways
If you'd rather stay off the highways, Rue Champlain takes you to Route 223, which follows the Richelieu north: Rue Jean-Talon in the Saint-Luc sector, Chemin Sainte-Thérèse in Carignan, Boulevard De Périgny in Chambly, then Chemin Bellerive and Chemin du Richelieu. You then reach Route 229 via Montée Robert, Rue Principale in Saint-Basile-le-Grand and Chemin Trudeau.
This route is 43.2 km, slightly shorter than the main one, but it takes about 58 minutes without traffic, or 14 more. In return, it runs alongside the Chambly Canal, a national historic site that stretches for nearly 20 km between Chambly and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu: enough to turn one leg of the trip into a scenic drive.
