From Beaconsfield to Sainte-Julie: by highway or by REM

Before you compare the models of a new semi-detached home near Beaconsfield, there's a simple question to settle: how long does it take to cross the island, then the river?

The trip from Beaconsfield to Sainte-Julie covers about sixty kilometres. The distances and times below come from the OSRM route planner and are measured to Geoffrion Street, where BÉAcité's sales office is located; they are times without traffic, so allow more at rush hour. Bus and train schedules are those of the STM and exo for Monday, November 2, 2026.

From Beaconsfield to Sainte-Julie by car: two routes, neck and neck

From city hall, at 303 Beaconsfield Boulevard, OSRM offers two nearly equivalent ways:

  • via Highway 40 and the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Bridge-Tunnel: 60.1 km, about 60 minutes;
  • via Highway 20, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge and Highway 30: 63.3 km, also about 60 minutes.

Without traffic, only a few minutes separate the two routes: the day's traffic decides.

Via Highway 40 and the bridge-tunnel

This is OSRM's default route: north on Saint-Charles Boulevard, then Highway 40 East (the Félix-Leclerc, then the Metropolitan) for about thirty kilometres. At Exit 80-S, Highway 25 South goes through the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Bridge-Tunnel, under major repair until 2027 with closures that shift from one phase to the next. About 15 km of Highway 20 East remain after that.

Via Highway 20 and the Samuel De Champlain Bridge

Highway 20 East starts almost right away, at Saint-Charles Boulevard, and runs about 19 km to Exit 68. Next come Highway 15 South, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge, Highway 10, then Highway 30 East, the Autoroute de l'Acier, for about 14 km.

Either way, Exit 105 (Route 229) and Montée des Quarante-Deux lead into the Vilamo neighbourhood, then to Geoffrion Street.

Without a car: the REM, from the West Island to Brossard

The REM's Anse-à-l'Orme branch offers something unusual: a ride with no transfer from the West Island all the way to Brossard, on the South Shore. Two stations are close to Beaconsfield:

  • Fairview–Pointe-Claire, 8.8 km from city hall by road (about 14 minutes): a free 300-space parking lot, according to the REM, plus overflow areas;
  • Kirkland, 6.3 km away (about 13 minutes): no parking, only a drop-off area and STM bus bays.

By bus, route 200 links the Beaconsfield / Harrow stop, 80 m from city hall, to Fairview–Pointe-Claire station in 24 to 29 minutes. Route 211 runs from Beaconsfield station to Kirkland station in 11 to 15 minutes. A train comes every 14 or 15 minutes. Based on the first and last published departures, the ride takes about 49 to 50 minutes from Fairview–Pointe-Claire and 53 to 54 from Kirkland.

From Brossard to Geoffrion Street, Monday to Friday

No direct bus connects Beaconsfield and Sainte-Julie. In Brossard, exo bus 600 leaves from Bay 5 of the Brossard terminus, about 200 m from the REM station, and reaches the Sainte-Julie terminus in 22 to 29 minutes; it runs on weekdays only, with 26 departures a day.

The last leg is by T34 taxibus, which must be booked and runs on weekdays only: from the terminus to the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop, about 90 m from Geoffrion Street, in 11 minutes. During sales office hours, it arrives at 12:06 p.m. or 1:27 p.m., and at no other time. One example, from the schedules for Monday, November 2, 2026:

  • bus 200 at 9:37 a.m., Fairview–Pointe-Claire station at 10:02;
  • REM to Brossard, arriving between 10:50 and 11:10;
  • exo 600 at 11:20, Sainte-Julie terminus at 11:45;
  • T34 at 11:55, arriving at 12:06 p.m.

All told, about two and a half hours and three transfers, with walking times at each one left unmeasured. For the way back, the 2:24 p.m. T34 reaches the terminus at 2:35, and the 2:40 exo 600 gets to Brossard at 3:05. The trip calls for an All modes ABC fare, since Beaconsfield is in zone A and Sainte-Julie in zone C; check the price when you set out.

What about the Beaconsfield train?

The train is part of the town's story: according to the City, the Grand Trunk line has run through it since 1853, and the current station dates from 1905. Exo line 11, Vaudreuil–Hudson, stops at Beaconsfield and Beaurepaire stations, but it heads to Lucien-L'Allier station downtown, not to the South Shore. On weekdays, 13 trains leave Beaconsfield station for Montreal, taking 33 to 43 minutes. The metro then takes you to Longueuil, where exo bus 325 heads to the Sainte-Julie terminus, but the 11:55 T34 is still the only way through: by train or by REM, you can't arrive before 12:06 p.m. during office hours. Sainte-Julie has no train station.

Visiting the sales office at 435 Geoffrion Street

BÉAcité's sales office welcomes visitors Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Evenings are by appointment; so are Saturdays and Sundays, when you will need a car: neither exo bus 600 nor the T34 taxibus runs on weekends, and no bus goes to Geoffrion Street.
