From Rosemère to Sainte-Julie, by the 25 or the 40

Before planning a visit to a new semi-detached home near Rosemère, count the waterways: between Chemin de la Grande-Côte and Geoffrion Street lie the Rivière des Mille Îles, the Rivière des Prairies and the St. Lawrence. Three crossings, and as many choices to make along the way.

This guide describes the trip from Rosemère to Sainte-Julie as calculated by the OSRM route planner, ending on Geoffrion Street, where BÉAcité has its sales office. Times are for a road with no traffic and stretch at rush hour. Train, metro and bus schedules are exo and STM data for Monday, November 2, 2026.

How long does it take from Rosemère to Sainte-Julie, depending on where you start?

As the crow flies, Rosemère town hall is only 38.5 km from Geoffrion Street. By road, the rivers dictate which bridges you take, and the distance climbs by about fifteen kilometres:

  • town hall, Rue Charbonneau: 53.3 km, about 52 minutes;
  • Rosemère station: 58.1 km, about 54 minutes;
  • Place Rosemère, Boulevard Labelle: 57.7 km, about 54 minutes.

These three routes, the fastest according to OSRM, all cross the Highway 25 toll bridge.

Via Highway 25: two ways to reach the toll bridge

Through Bois-des-Filion and the Athanase-David Bridge

From town hall, OSRM follows Chemin de la Grande-Côte (Route 344), then Boulevard Adolphe-Chapleau in Bois-des-Filion. The Athanase-David Bridge (Route 335) spans the Rivière des Mille Îles and lands on Avenue Papineau in Laval. From there, you take Autoroute Papineau (Highway 19), then Highway 440 East to Exit 35, "25 Sud: Montréal".

Along the Laurentian Autoroute and Highway 440

From the train station or Place Rosemère, the route goes instead by Highway 15 South and the Gédéon-Ouimet Bridge, then from Exit 10 along Highway 440 East to the same Exit 35.

The Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge

Either way, Highway 25 South then crosses the Rivière des Prairies on the Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge. According to a25.com, the toll applies in both directions; without a transponder, you are billed from your licence plate. The current rate is posted on that site.

What about Highway 640? Followed east to Terrebonne, it joins Highway 25 and the same toll bridge: 58.8 km and about 55 minutes from town hall, with nothing gained.

Via Highway 40: the toll-free road

To avoid the Highway 25 bridge, stay on Autoroute Papineau as far as the Papineau-Leblanc Bridge, which crosses the Rivière des Prairies into Montreal. Avenue Papineau and Boulevard Crémazie East take you to Highway 40 East, and Exit 80-S then points to the bridge-tunnel. From town hall, OSRM measures 52.8 km and about 56 minutes; from the train station or Place Rosemère, about 59 minutes. So skipping the toll costs four to five minutes, without traffic. Highway 15 down to Highway 40, another free option, is the longest: a little over an hour.

The bridge-tunnel, then Exit 105

Whatever bridge you pick, every route calculated from Rosemère to Sainte-Julie converges in the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel, under the river. According to Quebec's transport ministry (MTMD), it is under major repair until 2027, with closures that change from phase to phase: check before you set out. On the other side, Highway 20 East runs to Exit 105, toward Route 229. Montée des Quarante-Deux and Avenue des Bâtisseurs bring you to Geoffrion Street; signs for the Vallée-du-Richelieu golf club, then BÉAcité's own signs, mark the last stretch.

Without a car: the train the town is named after

Rosemère owes its name to a railway station. According to the Commission de toponymie du Québec, in 1880 a Canadian Pacific executive, J. P. Withers, struck by the abundance of wild rose bushes, named a station on the Rivière des Mille Îles "Rosemere". Today, exo line 12, Saint-Jérôme, offers 14 weekday departures toward Montreal from there. Since Sainte-Julie has no station, the trip by public transit links together:

  • the train to De la Concorde station in Laval, in 11 to 15 minutes, with the metro station right next door;
  • the orange line to Berri-UQAM, in 19 to 24 minutes, then the yellow line to Longueuil, in 6 or 7 minutes;
  • exo bus 350, or the 325, to the Sainte-Julie terminus;
  • the T34 taxibus, available by reservation and on weekdays only, to the "des Pionniers / des Bâtisseurs" stop, about 90 m from Geoffrion Street.

The 7:03 a.m. train gets you there at 8:51 a.m., just before the sales office opens: roughly 1 hour 48 minutes of travel. The 11:25 a.m. train brings you in at 1:27 p.m. Since the T34 has no departures from 8:40 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., anything in between means a long wait. To head home, the 2:24 p.m. taxibus gets you back to Rosemère station at 4:08 p.m. These calculations assume short transfers and leave out walking. Rosemère and Sainte-Julie are both in ARTM zone C, but the trip crosses zones B and A: plan on an All modes ABC fare, at the current price.

On weekends, the train stops at De la Concorde station, and neither the T34 nor exo bus 520 operates, so no public transit reaches Geoffrion Street. Saturday and Sunday visits are therefore made by car, by appointment.
